EuroRoute R1 – the new challenge cycling from Lithuania to St. Petersburg/Russia

Follow me from Lithuania to St. Petersburg/Russia

Last year I´ve been cycling from Bavaria to Rome in Itlay – and those days I´ve met a cupple from Lithuania at the beginning of this trip.
They invited me to visit their wonderful country and recommended me the “LatEst” cyclepath – unfortunately the surface of it is more than 50 % gravel so it´s not possible to go there with my recumbent.

But while looking for options I found a great route through Europe – the EuroRoute R1, which leads you from London via Germany to St. Petersburg in Russia.
Wow – that sounds great and would give me a trip to go for the next 3 years – so, let´s do it!

EuroRoute R1 – cycling from London to St. Petersburg/Russia

I´ve started the preparations for this adventure already in September 2016 as I need a transport from St. Petersburg – which wasn´t that easy as there isn´t a direct ferry to Germany anymore.
Also the experiences with the changeable weather – even in Italy – forced me to look for another tent – so the guys from Globetrotter in Munich gave me a hint that MSR would bring out a new tent especially for cyclists – and here we are…so follow my new adventure – I´m looking forward to it. Starting in the middle of May 2017.

Let´s go to Rome – the new trip in 2016

Hi there! This years´ journey will lead my to another country – this time it´s Italy!
I´m really looking forward to that as there will be hopefully a little bit more sun than in Denmark and a lot of beaches…
3 years after having visited the coast of Nice I´d like to taste the spirit of the south again…

Follow my trip in about 3 weeks – have a look!

Counting down – 3 weeks to leave Paris

Dear friends,
this year there is a new adventure starting in a few days – the tracks are planned and you can find them on my new blog.
Perhaps you’d like to accompany me virtually again – have a look !

From Paris to Hendaye - countryside & atlantic sea

I can´t believe it – in only 3 weeks time I´m going to leave Paris accompanied by a good friend who live there heading towards Orléans.

I will continue by myself visiting again the wonderful river Loire I´ve been cycling in 2010  to St. Nazaire.
This cycling-path is also called the EuroVelo 6 from the atlantic coast to the black sea.

Here I´m going to follow the EuroVelo 1 heading south on the “Vélodysée” along the coast approaching Bordeaux wich I´ve been visiting two years ago in 2013 on my way to Nice.

But this time my recumbentbike, the trailer and me we are going to see the countryside heading towards Pau and then let the wheels running down to Bayonne.
Finally there will be – hopefully – some time to relax at the wonderful beach to the way to Hendaye where I´m going to take the train back to Paris.

As it was such a wonderful afternoon in Marseille I send you all some pics from this colourful town…
I’ve started visiting a church and than I jumped into the arabian scene – was like l another world walking through the markets where you don’t find tourists – even 50 m away from the big boulevard…

Next to the harbour there will be a Fete de la Music – tomorrow.
As they built up the stage you could enjoy some songs…

1.500 km of Rock’n’Roll

Unbelivable – after 2 1/2 weeks of cycling in so different landscapes I’m sitting in the old town of Nice and enjoy dinner.

Starting the day and exploring a new and most interesting part of the Cote I’ve seen views like Cote Granite Rose in brittany…

Cote d’Azur without St. Tropez

Tuesday, June, 18th, 2013

Starting from my wonderful small Hotel I continued my way along the Cote.
Not a long ride and I had a first great beach…

image

image

Sitting there was just like being on holiday …
Sometimes I had safe cyclepaths, than you had to go next to heavy traffic – not really relaxing. But there is an old railway-track wich is now a cyclepath – if you find it.

image

The total distance of this day where 80 km – and I had just a look over to St. Tropez where a big ship was lying in the harbour.

image

So in the evening I found a place to stay – a hotel owned since 3 years by a couple from Sweden and Finland (that’s to you, Matthias).

And than again a marvelous eveningsun in the harbour.

image

So – tomorrow is my last cycling-day to nice where I will stay in a already booked Hotel – the last 75 km of this outstanding journey.

On thursday I will return to Marseille by train and on friday back to Paris where I’m going to to sleep a little bit in the nighttrain to Munich. M.

14.000 km compressed in 50 km

Sunday, June, 16th, 2013

This day was very special to me – as the 14.000 km I’ve been already cycling with my GreenMachine it seemed to me like these kilometers were just the training for today.
I’ve never had thought it would be possible for me, the bike and the trailer to cross this pass and the following up and downs.

image

It was just an outstanding view I couldn’t believe it to get up there.

Finally I jumped into the Mediterranean Sea for the first time – and later on we had a delicious dinner with a great view. M.
